Welcome to Canada! Our English as a Second Language & Settlement Program will help you to discover your community, meet new people and access free language instruction.
Learn about how to access basic needs such as health care, schools, banking, insurance, community programming, employment opportunities and housing. Receive support while adjusting to your new home and culture.
We offer free language assessments and goal setting/planning. Using the Canadian Language Benchmarks, we assess your skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
One to One Tutoring
Trained tutors work one to one with learners of English. Areas of focus may be a combination of:
- Speaking skills
- Listening Skills
- Reading Skills
- Writing Skills
- Cultural Learning
- Test preparation
One to one tutoring is flexible takes place around your schedule. Your tutor will help you improve your language skills and will be a culture guide and mentor as you adjust to life in Fort Nelson.
ESL Community Classes
We offer several free community classes every week. Our classes are based on the L.I.N.C. and ELSA curriculum.
Multilevel English Class: This class is based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks and works on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. You will also learn about Canadian and Fort Nelson culture.
Intermediate/Advanced English Class: This class is based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks from levels 4 to 6 and works on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. You will also learn about Canadian and Fort Nelson culture.
Conversation Group: Learn more about Canadian culture, share your own culture, and learn and practice English and informal speech like slang and sayings.
Multicultural Parents Group: Come and join us for an interactive hour of family learning and fun. Drop in group for parents, infants and toddlers.

Trips and Special Events
